MUMBAI: Actor Shreyas Talpade will host Star Gold’s Comedy Honors this month, a tribute to Indian comic excellence.

Talpade will be accompanied by Purbi Joshi in saluting people and films that have made audiences laugh over the years, says a release. Speaking about his new role as a television host, Talpade says, “I have grown up watching some of the greatest comedy films and I truly believe that it is easy to make one cry but difficult to make one laugh.” 

Star Gold will celebrate comedy all through April, culminating into the Comedy Honors.

Starting 1 April, Talpade and Joshi will host the curtain raiser, which will be aired simultaneously on Star Gold, Star Plus, Star One and Star Utsav followed by the first episode of the nine-part series of the 101 Greatest Comic Scenes ever.

From 2 April every Monday to Friday at 5 pm, the Salaam-e-Comedy Film Festival will play rib tickling comic films like Pyar Ke Side Effects, Bluffmaster, Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Hulchul, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Hero No. 1, Biwi No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Dulhe Raja.

As a part of Comedy Honors, the Star Network will also conduct a poll of the All Time Greatest Comedy Film, the release says.
