MUMBAI: Kunal Kohli’s first production starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji will roll by the end of 2007. This will mark the beginning of Kohli’s efforts to set up his own production house. The film, yet untitled, will be produced and directed by him.
His four year long relation with Yash Raj Films too will continue with this film. Kohli explains, “I will direct and produce my own films. Yash Raj will present, distribute and market them for me.”
Kohli is looking forward to release the film by next year. However, he is reluctant to divulge any further details about story and shooting locales. “If I tell you everything now, what will I tell you when my film is ready for release?” he justifies.
When quizzed if he was looking forward to repeat the Hum Tum success by signing Saif and Rani in his next film, he denied saying that he signed purely because the script demanded so. In 2005 Saif won a National Award in the best actor category for his performance in Hum Tum.
Apart from Hum Tum, Saif and Rani will also be seen together in this week’s big release from the Yash Raj Films’ stable – Ta Ra Rum Pum, which is directed by Siddharth Anand.
