Film competition portal launched


MUMBAIMedia and entertainment company Century Communications Ltd, along with producer Deepak Nayar, today announced the launch of www.Filmaka.in – an internet based film competition portal, designed by established filmmakers to discover the emerging talent of filmmakers in India.


Some of the prominent names responsible for the establishment of Filmaka.in are P K Tewari- chairman CCL, Anand Tewari- director CCL, Deepak Nayar- producer and financier of movies like Bend It Like Beckham, Bride And Prejudice and Mistress Of Spices, Tim Levy film financier and Kurt Woolner, film financier.


Filmaka.in was conceptualised post filmaka.com, where vast number of films were submitted by Indian filmmakers. India hosts a large number of story tellers, a fact which is highlighted through the vast number of movies churned out of India that have an international audience, was yet another incentive.


Says CCL chairman and managing director P K Tewari, “There is a lot of talent in our country that is yet to be tapped. Filmaka.in and the contest that it is associated with, are an avenue where budding talent in the country can receive due recognition. Filmaka.in is a combination of Hollywood and Indian Film industry stalwarts who have come together to discover talent and believe in offering the perfect opportunity to aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talents to global audiences.


Adds Nayar, “Our objective is to give promising new filmmakers a platform to showcase their work to a discerning jury and to find one great talent who will win a feature film deal with Filmaka.in.”


The Filmaka.in contest format has been designed by global experts in order to keep the competition as unbiased and as impartial as possible. The focus is to find talent and is more of a development process towards stimulating filmmaking.
