MUMBAI: Salman Khan, who has been associated with dozens of NGOs and charitable trusts, has now set up a trust of his own called ‘Being Human’, which is a part of the Salman Khan Foundation.
Just days before his film Partner hits theatres, Khan organised a special screening of the film for over 400 underprivileged children. This marks the first amongst the many works that is to be carried by the Being Human foundation. The foundation was registered a month ago informs actor – producer Sohail Khan, who is also Salman’s younger brother.
“I think it’s time to give back a little, so I started the foundation called Being Human. The screening of Partner for kids is the first event under the foundation. With all the pain and misery, I think they deserve to laugh a little,” said Salman Khan.
Sohail Khan added, “When we saw the film a week ago, I genuinely thought this was a film meant for kids and that’s how the idea to screen it for kids came up. Salman always wanted to start a charitable foundation for years but couldn’t give it time. He has been doing his own bit here and there, but now I think things have slowed down for him and he can devote time to it.”
Post the screening, the 400 odd children were given gift bags by the cast and crew of Partner. Also present at the event were Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta, David Dhawan, Rajpal Yadav, Sajid and Wajid amongst others.
Partner will release on 20 July 2007.
