MUMBAI: Universal Music Publishing Group has renewed an exclusive, world-wide publishing agreement with multi-platinum, 4X Grammy award-winning, Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl.
Universal Music Publishing Group, Chairman and CEO, David Renzer commented, “Dave Grohl has long been at the forefront of rock, first as a member of Nirvana and now leading the hugely successful Foo Fighters, as well as his various other projects. We are honored to continue our long-term relationship as his worldwide publisher.”
In addition to Grohl, Universal Music also represents the music publishing interests of Foo Fighters band members and co-writers Taylor Hawkins and Chris Schiflett.
The announcement comes on the heels of the release of the Foo Fighter’s sixth studio album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace (RCA) which already debuted No. 1 on the UK album charts. The first single ‘The Pretender’ currently tops the US Billboard Alternative/Modern Rock chart and is no. 2 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock tracks.
Apart from being founder and leader of the globally multi-platinum and multiple Grammy winning Foo Fighters, Grohl has also been associated as a Nirvana drummer and stand-in drummer for Queens Of The Stone Age, Tenacious D., Killing Joke and Nine Inch Nails.
Dave Grohl has four Grammy wins with the Foo Fighters, including Learn to Fly – Best Music Video (2000); There Is Nothing Left to Lose – Best Rock Album (2000); All My Life – Best Rock Performance (2002), and One By One – Best Rock Album (2003).
Managed by John Silva of SAM/Silva Artist Management, Grohl and Hawkins join UMPG’s successful roll, which includes Beastie Boys, U2, Prince, Paul Simon, 50 Cent, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Joy Division, The Pixies, Robbie Williams, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, and Coldplay, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Wolfmother, The Living End, Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, Zero 7, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Pete Townshend (The Who), The Cure, Keane, Massive Attack, Daft Punk, Hard Fi, and Pink Floyd among many others.
