Known as one of the last remaining silent film stars, Jean Darling died at age of 93. The actress breathed her last on September 4th in Germany. The actress was known for her appearance as a child artist in ‘Our Gang’ comedy shorts.
Jean Darling has appeared in 46 shorts. The legendary star started her career in acting at the age of 4. Jean made her presence on the ‘Our Gang’ shorts in 1926. The actress was much in limelight as she was one of the few who had witnessed the silent film era. Darling passed away after an illness struck her.
The legendary artist is also known for originating the role of Carrie Pipperidge in the musical comedy ‘Carousel’. The actress also starred in the 2013 silent short film, ‘The Butler’s Tale’. Not only did Jean upscale her acting skills, the artist also was known for writing mystery and crime stories for magazines. Along with the expressions, Darling also gained fame for voicing the character of Aunty Poppy for RTE radio plays in Ireland.

Jean Darling is survived by her son Roy. Jean made a mark for herself when she played a little blonde girl in comedy series ‘Our Gang’; her character was also named Jean. Starting at the age of 4, Jean then quit the show as sound was beginning to make its entry into the films.
Jean acted in various films, like ‘Saturday’s Lesson’ in 1929 and ‘Jane Eyre’ in 1934. Later the star moved into the area of stage productions. Jean’s debut at the Broadway was with the musical ‘Count Me In’ way back in 1942. Jean bid an adieu on September 4th; her last appearance was in the year 2013.
