Whistling Woods hosts convocation ceremony for first batch

Mumbai: Whistling Woods International (WWI) held the Convocation Ceremony for its first batch of students. The day also marked the second anniversary of the premier Institute.

Majority of the graduating students have been placed in big media houses and a few have been accepted by Fox Films, Adlabs Media, Viacom, Dharma Productions (Karan Johar), Mirchi Movies, Mukta Arts, BIG Animation, Paprikaas, Optimystix, SIC (Nagesh Kukunoor Prodn), Red Chillies Endemol, Balaji, Rajkamal Films (Kamal Hasan), BR Films, Network 18 to name a few.

"Directing films was always a dream and Whistling Woods helped it come true. I did expect some good work coming my way, but to get an opportunity to work with Nagesh Kukunoor is an amazing experience", said Arundhati Sen Verma. She has laned an assignment with Nagesh Kukunoor as an Assistant Director for Bemisal starring Karan Nath and Sindhura Gadhe.  

Puushkar Singh, one of the students of WWI said, "When I enrolled for the cinematography course in WWI, I never thought I would get such a big opportunity. However, by the end of the course as my understanding and awareness of the subject increased I hoped to get a good break which did happen". Puushkar is currently assisting cinematographer Binod Pradhan for a Telugu film titled Puli.

Along with the family of the students, many industry stalwarts also joined in to support and encourage the new polished talent that was stepping into the business.

Mahindra Group vice chairman and managing director and WWI Governing Council chairman Anand Mahindra addressed the students. University of Mumbai Pro Vice-Chancellor A. D. Sawant and Anand Mahindra later handed the diplomas to the students.

Expressing his excitement, Subhash Ghai said, "I am amazed by the talent, maturity and competitive spirit of the first batch of students graduating from our school. This will stand them in good stead in the years ahead. I feel fortunate that WWI has had the unstinted support and encouragement of our filmmakers and stars alike. I wish all the students a very good luck."
