People Pictures launches maiden project 99

MUMBAI: People Group’s movie arm People Pictures formally launched its maiden movie venture 99 on 1 September.

The film stars stars Kunal Khemu, Soha Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinod Khanna among others. It is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who have previously directed short films titled Shor and Falvors.

People Group chairman and managing director Anupam Mittal says, "At People Pictures we wanted a film that is cool, stylish, genre busting in content and a pure entertainer. Our search ended with 99."

99 is on floors currently and has finished 10 days of shooting. "Slick fast-paced, realistic and importantly, very funny, 99 is an original story inspired by real events. We will wrap the shooting of 99 by 10 October and are aiming for a January/ February release window," says People Pictures CEO Aditya Shastri.

The film is being made on a budget of Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crores).

99 is the story of two different men in two different cities, who are bound by a common feeling of always being stuck at ’99’. They never seem to make it to a ‘century’- figuratively speaking. It is a journey of two men who want to break away from the rut and ‘strike it big’.
