CC2C inflicted by online piracy despite Warner’s efforts

MUMBAI: Chandni Chowk To China has found its way on the world wide web despite Warner Bros. Worldwide Anti-Piracy Group’s targeted campaign to protect the worldwide release of the film.

Warner Bros. Anti-Piracy plans included monitoring screenings to catch possible camcorders, scanning the Internet to identify illegal uploading of the film and files and raiding stores and markets to ensure that they are not offering illegal copies of the film.

However, parts of the film were available on Google’s video sharing portal YouTube.com, which were posted by multiple users. Within a few hours of the post, the film got a cumulative of over 80,000 views, thus indicating the spread of piracy and reinforcing the need to take more dire measures to combat this problem.

While the videos from YouTube.com have been removed, there are still many that re-direct users to watch the movie in entirety on other portals. The videos that have been removed carry the message, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc."

Furthermore, a lot many videos that showcase the trailer of the movie provide links as to where the movie can be viewed.
