MUMBAI: First film with Shah Rukh Khan. First film with the Yash Raj banner. And a first film that is a big hit. Anushka Sharma is still enjoying the bounty of success, two months later.
The actress was invited to London for the Zee Carnival, in the second week of February, as reported by Businessofcinema.com. Anushka was accompanied by her Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi co-star, Shah Rukh Khan. The event is an occasion for fans to meet their favourite stars and for three days, Anushka did exactly that.
Anushka, in an exclusive chat reveals, “When I met the first person on stage, he said that I am your fan. I felt so strange because of the term, “fan”. It was strange because I am yet to come to terms with what Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has given me.”
As a child growing up in Bangalore, Anushka said, “I have never had any idols. I truly cannot say who was my favourite hero or heroine. So this term of fan is very alien to me. I feel awkward hearing when someone says I am your fan.”
Anushka met her fans at London’s Grand Hall Olympia. Thrice a day, the actress used to step out to meet all those Indian film loving audience, who used to wait for hours to get a chance to shake hands or pose a photograph with their favourite actors. Confessed Anushka, “Waving out to the crowds was another strange experience for me. I would have preferred to have a one on one chat with them. But I guess that would have been impossible as there were so many of them.”
Anushka is yet to have a fan interaction in India. Ironically, the actress had to step out of her country to get her first taste of fan hysteria.
