This was his first ever visit to the Middle East after winning the Oscar. Just a day before the Awards he also addressed a press conference at Sheraton Deira in Dubai.
Pookutty said, "I am honored and very happy to be a part of Asian Television Awards as it not only felicitates the talent of people on screen but also recognizes the talents behind the camera as they all play a very important part in the success of any film or show."
Along with Pookutty, Middle East singer Jawad Al Ali was also present at the Award function as the Guest of Honor. Asian Television Awards also honored Pookutty with a diamond studded Arabic Sword carved out of 24 carat gold.
