MySpace to debut Secret Shows in India

MUMBAI: MySpace will soon showcase MySpace Secret Shows in India.

Based on the concept, disclosed locations, undisclosed artistes, the first Secret Show in India will be held in Mumbai on 29 May. In keeping with the global format, the MySpace Secret Shows franchise in India will be a free concert only for MySpacers. This platform has become synonymous with launching several leading names in the global music scene.

MySpace Secret Shows were launched in the United Kingdom in February 2006 with a performance by Scottish alternative rock band Primal Scream. Thousands of MySpacers across 10 countries have worked the mosh-pit or grooved to the music of their favourite artistes and bands at more than 150 Secret Shows since then.

Some prominent names, who have performed at Secret Shows around the world are: U2, Lily Allen, Neil Diamond, Pink, Moby, Fall Out Boy, Duffy, Gnarls Barkley, Slayer and Faithless, to name a few.

The introduction of the Secret Shows franchise marks the beginning of an all-new dimension in India’s independent and non-mainstream music segment. Going away from the popular Indy- and Bollywood- music categories, the MySpace Secret Shows will provide a live platform for scores of young, avant-garde musicians. The concerts will be a medium to present alternative music genres, including rock, metal, folk, Sufi, electronica and so on.
