Mumbai: National award winning child actor Harsh Mayar is praying hard for the recovery of his idol Salman Khan. And why not? Harsh had threatened to go on a hunger strike to meet Salman before the release of I Am Kalam. Now the boy says it’s Salman, or no man.
“I want him to get well and come back. I am ready to make any sacrifice to see my hero being the super-hero again,” says Mayar who is all set to work in the sequel to I Am Kalamm.
Barely a couple of months after Mayar walked away with the National Award for his performance in I Am Kalam the film’s director Nila Madhav Panda is all set to make a sequel, which would feature Harsh again.
Mayar tells Businessofcinema.com, “I keep getting offers all the time. But I’ve my exams coming up. So I’ve said no to all the offers except a film called Maharaj where I again play the central role. Om Puri is also there. I’m also doing a Hollywood film with my I Am Kalam director.”
The “Hollywood film” turns out to be an Indo-Dutch co-production that would take the I Am Kalam story further.
Says the director, “At the moment I am completely into my next project tentatively entitled Mermaid, which looks at the position of the girl-child in our society. I am currently hunting for the correct locations for this film. Next year I will be doing a sequel to I Am Kalam in collaboration with a foreign production company. The message of child literacy needs to go really far.”
However Panda warns that Harsh Mayar’s presence in the project would depend on how he can shoot without affecting his studies.
Says the director, “Harsh keeps seeking my advice about offers that are coming his way. I always tell him not to let his studies get affected. I will be shooting the sequel only when he has holidays.”
