Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor, playing the lead role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s forthcoming ‘Heroine’, is putting in all her energy to step into the character’s shoes and portray the emotions naturally.
In the bargain though, she has ended up sacrificing her health.
The scenes she is required to do are intense and raw. She has to scream her lungs out, express rage and pain. While method acting may have worked for this, the actress chose instead to actually feel it. Sources say, that once Kareena had got into the mood of the character, she was a thorough natural. She let the feelings simmer within her before going in for the take. Kareena even refused to use glycerin to induce tears and cried naturally for the shot. She actually burst out – sobbing and giving her dialogue in between sniffles, while everyone around watched in rapt attention. Apparently, It took the director Madhur a couple of seconds to realise that the shot was over, before he could call ‘Cut!’.
By the end of the day’s shoot, Kareena was exhausted, and down with a sore throat.
‘Heroine’, slated to release on 14 September, revolves around the life of a once successful film actress Mahi Arora, whose career is on the decline. The film also features Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami.
