Suniel Shetty remembers his father in an honest and profound message.
Suniel Shetty’s father, Veerappa Shetty who was 93-year-old, passed away on March 1, 2017. Though he was ill for a long time, it is a personal loss that can’t be expressed in words.
Suniel’s father was admitted at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. After Veerappa Shetty suffered a serious paralytic stroke in 2013, Suniel had set up a separate ICU (Intensive Care Unit) altogether at his residence.
Suniel Shetty, who was extremely close to his father, took to micro blogging website Twitter to thank his friends and colleagues from the industry for being there for him during this sad time.
He wrote: “Though I saw it coming, it still hurts. RIP Papa. Thank you all… Family friends and well-wishers for your prayers.” He shared a picture along with it which had a quote reading, “Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday.”

Mr. Veerappa Shetty was a strong-willed man who worked hard day and night to build a business empire as a hotelier. Though Suniel got into acting, it was more like a hobby for him while he looked after his dad’s business too.
When Suniel’s daughter, Athiya Shetty was preparing for her big debut in Bollywood, his father fell really ill. However, his father was Suniel’s only focus, so much so that he took a break from his film career and did not sign any films for years.
Veerapa Shetty is survived by his wife and children Suniel and Sujata.
