The reason why Sridevi did not accept the offer of playing Sivagami in Baahubali is disappointing!
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 has surprised the whole industry and the nation as the film has become the first one in India to enter Rs 1000 crore club. The whole cast and crew of the film is overwhelmed by the response that the film is getting.
Everyone is just all praises for the movie. Which actor wouldn’t want to be a part of this magnum opus? But then there was reportedly someone who turned down an important role in Baahubali series. We had earlier brought to you all the reports of Sridevi being the first choice for the role of Sivagami and not Ramya Krishna. And now there are reports swirling in the media that the actress had refused the offer because of her husband. Allegedly, Sridevi demanded for Rs 6 crore, for the same role which Ramya Krishna played in just Rs 2.5 crore.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, a source from the sets of Baahubali says, “We respect Srideviji a lot. And yes, she was the first choice for Sivagami. This was very early in the project. But when we approached her, her husband, Boney Kapoor, quoted a staggering fee. Plus, he wanted a share of the Baahubali profits. We dropped the idea immediately, though we were very keen on casting Srideviji. Later, we came to know she did a Tamil film (Puli), where she was given the fee that her husband wanted.”
However the source was happy with Ramya Krishnan’s performance as it says, “We can’t imagine anyone else playing Sivagami. And we feel that it is in very bad taste for an actor to talk about a role that he or she did not do. By doing so, the actor who did the role is belittled.”
In fact, Ram Gopal Varma recently tweeted on the same saying, “I really wonder why @SrideviBKapoor did not do Bahubali 2? What a super outstanding film it would have been for her illustrious career.” He even said, “If @SrideviBKapoor did Bahubali2 she would have gotten more credit than Prabhas it being her very next film after English Vinglish.”
