MECCA: Aamir Khan, Bollywood’s ‘intellectual’ superstar, is away from B’town on Hajj pilgrimage. The paparazzi have spotted Aamir, all the way in the holy city of Mecca, on a pious pilgrimage in the holy month of Dhul Hijja.
Aamir had recently promised his mother, Zeenat Hussain, a trip to the holy city of Mecca to complete Hajj.
And being the dutiful son that he is, he fulfilled his mother’s wish, by accompanying her to Saudi Arabia in order to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage, as soon as he was done with his ‘Dhoom 3’ schedule in Chicago.
Aamir Khan left for Haj pilgrimage with his mother Zeenat Hussain on October 19, and was spotted at the airport.
According to reports, at Mecca too, Aamir pushed his mother’s wheelchair to make her comfortable. Aamir proved to be a marvelous son, as he was with his mother every step of the way, as per tradition of walking around the holy stone Kaaba, seven times a day.
The pilgrimage of Haj is one of Islam’s five pillars, and is a duty of all Muslims who are physically able to carry it out.
The grand mosques in Mecca and Medina, the two holiest cities of Islam, draw millions of pilgrims annually. And Aamir being a devout Islamic, was keen to ensure his mother successfully completes her pilgrimage during her lifetime.
The pilgrimage comes bang in the midst of a very busy and hectic phase in Aamir’s life. The perfectionist actor had just returned from a grueling outdoor schedule for his next film, ‘Dhoom 3’, where he plays a wicked villain.
He is also occupied with the post production and promotion of his upcoming release, ‘Talaash’, which is directed by Reema Kagti and stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji.
The crime-thriller releases on 30th November.
