MUMBAI: Kareena Kapoor is no stranger to media speculation. First it was the whole hide-and-seek guessing game that she played with the media, “Will she or won’t she?” Get married that is.
Even once the wedding was confirmed, there was still unprecedented speculation surrounding the auspicious dates, venue, guest list, costumes, city, even food menu; for the big fat wedding!
Now that the couple is blissfully married and the wedding hoopla has died down, Miss Kapoor is still in the news. This time it is for her upcoming release ‘Talaash’, with Aamir Khan.
Buzz had previously suggested that Kareena would include her new name, Kareena Kapoor Khan, in the opening credits of the film. This would have been the first time she would be using her marital name on screen.
However, it looks like this was not meant to be. Kareena’s name in the film’s opening title and credits will remain as Kareena Kapoor, and not Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The director of ‘Talaash’, Reema Kagti, has confirmed that Kareena will retain her maiden name in the film’s credits. The reigning Begum of Bollywood will not delight her fans by using her new marital name, in her first release post her wedding to the Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan.
It is still unclear why this sudden change of heart. After all, the couple have “signed, sealed and delivered” the marriage, and everyone knows Kareena is now the latest Khan in Bollywood.
Could it be to ensure the film’s fate at the Box Office is not affected, as the Industry and audiences are not very kind to married actresses?
