MUMBAI: With a mere five days left for Diwali, and for the release of Yash Chopra’s magnum opus, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, the countdown has officially begun!
The film which stars reigning Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, has already generated so much buzz in the industry and among audiences all over the world.
The hype for this yet-to-be-released film has reached its zenith, with most pegging this film as one of the most eagerly awaited cinematic events in history!
And with this feverish pitch of pre-release excitement, comes the news of pre-bookings for the film reaching an estimated all-time peak. The advance bookings opened on Monday, but mostly only for single-screen theatres.
In Bangalore itself, at one of the oldest single screen theatres, Urvashi Theatre, an astounding 55% seats have already been sold, for the first day first show (10:45 AM), within the first day of advance booking!
To equate that into numbers, we are talking about a staggering 600 seats sold, out of a total capacity of 1100 seats, for the morning show on Day 1!
In Pune too, the response to single screens’ advance bookings is very heartening. As soon as one multiplex in Pune, E Square, opened its ticket windows, approximately 75% of the tickets were pre-booked for the early morning show (8:30 AM) within the first day of advance booking itself!
And in other news, seems like SRK fans across the border have much reason to rejoice.
Buzz of Pakistan planning to ban the movie have been quashed. The film will be releasing in Pakistan, after all.
The film is in the process of getting clearances in Pakistan. ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will release there a little after its worldwide release, on November 16th.
Amjad Rasheed, Chairman of IMGC Global Entertainment, the company which is the local distributor of the film in Karachi, said, “Yash Raj Films have assured us that the plot of the film will not hurt Pakistani sentiments. The film is coming to Pakistan and is in the process of being imported. The film has received one NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the ministry of regulations and services and is now awaiting another from the ministry of commerce.”
With such heartening news pouring in, the film’s makers Yash Raj Films must surely be smiling in anticipation.
The producers must be hoping that the film runs to packed houses in multiplexes and cinema houses across the nation, and all over the globe too. And that the film sees the ever-so-cheerful “Housefull” board outside the theatres.
And the film’s late director too, may just be smiling down on these developments, from his exalted place in the heavens above.
For this was Yash Chopra’s grand labour of love, his last curtain call; his finale act before his tragic and untimely demise in October.
