From The Sony Pictures Animation studio comes yet another 3D comedy ‘The Smurfs 2’. Though the first installment in the series ‘The Smurfs’ (2011) received a disappointing feedback, the movie performed fantastically at the International box office.
Directed by ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ Raja Gosnell, the teaser trailer to the sequel is out now! The sneak peak opens with a smurf telling us, “Deep in the woods there’s a village filled with joyful and happy smurfs, not far away from them the evil wizard Gargamel is upto something diabolical.”
Well it has all the ingredients of a ‘kid happy’ movie. Cute blue good guys, tall black evil guy, lots of comic moments and of course, magic! The plot line is straightforward: Evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence.
The sepia toned Naughties trick Smurfette into being naughty so that she will have so much fun she will never want to go back. It’s up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to rescue her.
Fans of Hollywood actor Neil Patrick Harris can look forward to his bang on comic timing reminiscent of his rendition of ‘Barney Stinson’ in the popular sitcom ‘How I Met Yout Mother’.
The movie stars singer and song writer Katy Perry as the voice over for Smurfette, Frank Azaria as the evil wizard Gargamel, Neil Patrick Harris as Patrick Winslow, and Jayma Mays as Grace Winslow.
