[imagebrowser id=269] JODHPUR: The uber popular and grossly entertaining format of Cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL), is all set to make a comeback next year in its latest edition. The T20 format, which is a marriage between cricket and entertainment, has seen a host of Bollywood stars partaking in the feast of fun.
IPL made history by hosting an owner’s workshop, which will be underway in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 20th and 21st December.
We spotted Bollywood’s original ‘bubbly’ babe and owner of Team Punjab Preity Zinta arriving in Jodhpur on Thursday morning, to attend the workshop. Also present were Royal Challengers Bangalore team owner and liquor baron Vijay Mallya, Team Mumbai owner Akash Ambani, Raghu Iyer (CEO Rajasthan Royals) and Rajiv Shukla – Chief of IPL.
Team Kolkata owner and Bollywood’s reigning superstar Shah Rukh Khan though, was conspicuous by his absence.
A senior BCCI official revealed the reason for hosting the workshop, “The workshop will help the owners get a clear understanding about the rules and regulation of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League.”
“There will be a lot of important presentations during the workshop which is expected to be attended by the likes of Mumbai Indians’ owner Nita Ambani, Kings’ XI Punjab co-owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia, Royal Challengers Bangalore supremo Vijay Mallya to name a few.”
The senior official further added that “no rules will be tweaked” in order to favour any particular franchise. “We will fully ensure that rules are same for all the nine franchises and none of them will have any grievance that the other is getting any unfair advantage.
The official, however, refused to shed some light on whether the controversial ‘Player Retention Policy’ will be eliminated in the coming season.
