MUMBAI: Earlier this year Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan along with two of his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, were accused of assaulting South African businessman Iqbal Sharma and his father in law. The Colaba police has now filed a charge sheet against Khan and associates in the matter.

Saif and the other accused were present in the 8th Metropolitan Magistrate Court when the police submitted the 120-page charge sheet, which will soon be handed over to them.

The charge sheet reportedly states that Saif and his friends punched Raman Patel and his businessman son-in-law, Iqbal Meer Sharma, fracturing the latter’s nose. The police have also submitted medical reports and the CCTV images of the dispute. 29 witnesses have reportedly said that they saw Saif and his friends hit and manhandle Sharma.

“Colaba police station filed the charge sheet against Saif Ali Khan in a metropolitan magistrate court on Thursday,” confirmed Zonal DCP Ravindra Shishwe.

What had happened? On February 22, at Wasabi by Morimoto, a Japanese cuisine restaurant in Taj Mumbai, Saif Ali Khan accompanied by now wife Kareena Kapoor, and friends including Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and husband Shakeel Ladak were apparently making a lot of noise, when Iqbal Sharma, dining with his family, approached the gang requesting them to keep their voices low.

Allegedly, Saif Ali Khan asked the NRI to go to the library if he needed silence, and threatened Sharma. In his complaint, Sharma reported that Saif fractured his nose. He also claimed that his father-in-law was punched by Ladak and Bilal Amrohi.

Saif in turn refuted the allegations: He said he had merely retaliated to Sharma’s punches and alleged that the businessman had passed lewd comments at his guests.
