LONDON: Justin Bieber’s performance at the O2 Arena in London was interrupted when the Pop Star suffered from a bout of breathlessness and had to be rushed backstage immediately. It is reported that Justin collapsed 30 minutes into the performance.
Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun told the crowd, who then posted videos online: “Justin got very light of breath; the whole show he has been complaining, he’s backstage with the EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) and the doctor.” The Canadian star fainted backstage and was given oxygen by the doctors. However, after only 20 minutes of rest the 19 year old returned to the stage and completed his performance in spite of his weak health.
Braun told the panicked fans: “They’re telling him they want him to go and see somebody and find out what’s going on with his lungs, he’s just told me that in five minutes, if it’s OK with you guys, he’s going to come out and finish the show. So he might not be jumping around as much and everything else, you guys need to be patient with us, we’re not trying to be disrespectful, we’re not trying to get you guys home late, we’re truly trying to put on a show for the people who love him.”
Bieber’s spokeswoman said that he ignored his doctor’s orders and returned to the O2 Arena to finish his performance; she also added that Bieber had not been suffering any health issues prior to the show. However, this was not the first time that the pop star has collapsed on stage. Last June, while he was at Paris for a concert, he suffered a concussion after falling into a glass wall.
His manager tweeted after the show: “everyone please give him a little space and he will be ok. I’m sure he appreciates the support … Tough kid proud night once again he always finishes the show. Full out. True pro…(sic)” Bieber was checked into a hospital after the show ended.
Later at night, the teen sensation posted an instagram picture of himself, shirtless and lying in the bed. Justin tweeted: “Getting better. Thanks for everyone pulling me thru (sic) tonight. Best fans in the world. Figuring out what happened. Thanks for the love.”
This was Bieber’s third of the four nights for his Europe tour ‘Believe’. After completing the ‘London’ part of the tour he is going to ‘Lisbon’ for two shows on 11 and 12 March. The London leg has been quite dramatic of Justin Bieber. On Tuesday he upset his fans by coming two hours late for the show which forced the crowds to leave the venue with their angry parents before he could start his performance!
Justin tweeted an apology to his disappointed fans, but denied reports of coming to the stage two hours late: “Waking up to a crazy day. Last night I was scheduled after three opening acts to go on stage at 9.35 not 8.30, but because of some technical issues I got on at 10.10. So I was 40 minutes late to stage. There is no excuse for that and I apologise for anyone we upset. However it was great show and I’m proud of that…I’m all about the music and the performance and I respect my fans.”
We hope the rest of his tour is not such a disaster. Take it easy, Justin, we hope you get well soon!
