MUMBAI: The Jiah Khan suicide case is finally beginning to unravel, and is throwing up some answers, after nearly a month.
Last month, on 4 June, 2013, Bollywood actress Jiah Khan committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan, in her suburban apartment in Mumbai. Since then, the case has taken murky turns, with her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi being arrested for abetment of suicide, and subsequently released on bail last week.
Now, forensic tests conducted on the actress’ body has found traces of alcohol in her system. The viscera samples, taken from organs like liver, stomach and spleen, were studied with the objective to identify whether the actress was under the influence of any substance, the night she committed suicide.
According to the Director of Forensic Science Laboratory Dr MK Malve (of Kalina Forensic Laboratory), the report was handed over to the police six days ago, but he did not elaborate on the findings.
According to sources, the report suggests that some percentage of alcohol was found in her body at the time of suicide, but the police have refused to reveal the amount of alcohol.
