MUMBAI: Hrithik Roshan’s sudden brain surgery for a clot detected between the brain and left side of the skull, has revealed one thing. Bollywood surely lags behind when it comes to taking precautionary measures while doing dangerous feats.
The actor complained of frequent headaches and weakness. An MRI scan revealed the clot, which might have been formed when the actor performed a stunt while shooting for his upcoming film ‘Bang Bang’, directed by Siddharth Anand.
Hrithik Roshan dived into water from a height of 30 feet in May during the Bangkok schedule of ‘Bang Bang’. The dive, accidently gone wrong could be the result of the injury. It has been revealed that the stunt was done without proper supervision and the local action co-ordination groups in Bangkok were the only people present. This happened post Conard Palmisano – the stunt director hired for ‘Bang Bang’ – walking out of the film. As a result, the shooting schedules went awry.
Conard Pamisano, has directed several Hollywood action sequences in ‘Lethal Weapon’ and ‘Rush Hour’. While Fox Studios denies that precautions were not taken, several crewmembers from the crew say that everything was in place, including Peter Hendra, International Water Sports Specialist present on the set to guide Hrithik.
This isn’t the first time injury woes are haunting Bollywood. A history of serious injuries to great stars like Amitabh Bachchan , Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, John Abraham have all made headlines.
Also while action directors claim that safety precautions are a priority and stars prefer doing their own stunts without using a body double, Insurance is what they lack unlike their Hollywood counterparts.
But looks like, Hrithik Roshan is surely accident’s favourite child. From injuring his knee during ‘Kites’, to having a prolonged back problem, the star has been on an injury spree. The brain clot however is really sudden and shocking. While the surgery was successful, the actor has been advised complete rest.
His next schedule for ‘Bang Bang’ with co-star Katrina Kaif has been indefinitely postponed. The actor is also gearing up to return in Diwali with ‘Krrish 3’.
