MUMBAI: Looks like Karan Johar may go from acting opposite Ranbir Kapoor in director Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ to directing him in his own film.
The buzz is that Ranbir Kapoor has been offered the lead in Karan Johar’s next film, which he will direct after his shooting for ‘Bombay Velvet’ is completed. Parineeti Chopra may star opposite Ranbir.
If this pairing goes ahead, this will be the first time Parineeti and Ranbir’s will appear together in a film.
Of course, all this has to be taken with a pinch of salt. No one is sure whether this is the same period romance Karan Johar was thinking of making sometime ago. He’s also jumped between three actors so far: Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Malhotra, and now back to Ranbir.
The director himself denies deciding on anyone for the role yet. “I’m still scripting the film and have not offered the film formally to any lead actress,” he said, smartly not commenting about the choice of the actor. So is Ranbir Kapoor confirmed now?
If Kapoor Jr. is confirmed, he has many busy months ahead of him. After ‘Besharam’ and ‘Bombay Velvet’, he will most possibly star in Anurag Basu and Ayan Mukherji’s next. Parineeti Chopra, on the other hand, has a relatively freer schedule. Let’s wait and watch how this casting game goes.
