MUMBAI: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, is still the fastest runner at the box office.
Despite a slew of new Bollywood releases, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has stayed well ahead of the competition, even in its second week. Starring Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta and Prakash Raj, the biopic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has exceeded all expectations as far as the box office is concerned.
The film began its journey at the ticketing windows, with impressive opening day figures in the range of Rs 92.5 million (Rs 9.25 crore net) on Day 1.
The first weekend brought good cheer for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, with collections at approximately Rs 320 million (Rs 32 crore net).
At the end of week 1, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was still going strong at approximately Rs 526.6 million (Rs 52.66 crore) net.
Once the tax exemptions were applied, business soared in the second weekend, with cash registers ringing to the tune of Rs 172.5 million (Rs 17.25 crore) net. This week, Monday and Tuesday have also been great, with collections in the range of Rs 21.2 million (Rs 2.12 crore) net and Rs 19.4 million (Rs 1.94 crore) net.
So far, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ stands at a whopping total of Rs 739.7 million (Rs 73.97 crore) net. It remains to be seen when the film can cross the coveted Rs 100 crore threshold.
