MUMBAI: The anti-piracy coalition between Bollywood and Hollywood studios continues its efforts to nab movie pirates with several raids conducted across Mumbai. During the most recent raids, more than 600 DVDs of Mani Ratnam’s Raavan starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwariya Rai were seized and confiscated.
At a raid conducted in Nalasopara on 20 June, a joint team from Cine Copyrights Investigation along with Mumbai Police seized 4864 pirated discs of Raavan along with Raajneeti, Iron Man 2, Prince of Persia and Kites. 2 accused were arrested and 314 discs were seized.
A joint team of AA Khan Associates and Mumbai Police conducted an operation near Dindoshi Police Station seizing a bike with 300 prints of Raavan. Several DVDs had a 6 in 1 combination of Raavan along with other recently released movies like Raajneeti, Prince of Persia, Kites, Ek Second, Badmaash Company, etc. One accused has been arrested. A raid on two stalls in JB Nagar in Andheri East saw 1206 discs being seized.
Khan said, “We are making all efforts to curb piracy across the city. I am glad that the coalition and Mumbai Police are taking concrete steps towards controlling and eradicating this menace.”
