$7 million Indo – Canadian animation film on anvil

MUMBAI: Canada based animation company Kahani World (KW) has tied up with filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and Virgin Comics’ chairman Deepak Chopra to produce a $7 million fully animated film.

Fully funded by KW and titled Secrets of the Seven Sounds, it is touted to be the first Indian animation movie for Hollywood. The mythological movie will have a marketing budget of around $10 million and is now in the post-production stages, say sources.

Kahani World, which works with Virgin comics and a Singapore based animation studio, will exploit all the delivery models to maximise revenues, add sources. The company is currently in talks with gaming companies to launch the movie based games prior to the film’s release as part of its marketing, to tap into the ancillary revenue potential of the content. Virgin Comics is the license holder of film’s merchandise, which will include toys inspired by the film’s characters.
