“Aamir Khan’s ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is for monetary gains”: Rajasthan Minister

Aamir Khan

MUMBAI: Aamir Khan’s TV debut ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has caught the eye of the whole nation, and everyone has an opinion about it. while some are very favourable, in admiration of the actor’s efforts, some have deemed it as a publicity stunt and ‘money making’ endeavour. One such opinion is that of Rajasthan’s Minister for Health – Rajkumar Sharma.

The minister has hit out at the Bollywood star and accused him of ‘sensationalising female foeticide’ cases in the state. Taking offense to Aamir highlighting the number of cases of female feoticide in Rajasthan, Sharma said, "There was an impression that the government has swung into action after Aamir Khan’s campaign but to clarify, I would like to highlight that the government is already working for the same. Budget announcements to check foeticide are there and several other steps are being taken. The government took up the issue much before Aamir Khan’s programme. It is not because of him that the government is working against female foeticide."

Openly accusing that Khan’s ‘Satyamev Jayate’, is not for social awareness, but rather a money-making strategy, the Minister added, "Aamir himself has said that he is an entertainer and cannot work longer on one topic, that simply means what he is doing is for monetary gains. If he really wants to work on this issue then I welcome him to work here on ground."
