MUMBAI: For the director duo, Abbas Mustan, it is a moment to celebrate. Their first home production, Life Partner has completed its shooting schedule. And unlike most though, this film is not being directed by them, but by writer turned director, Rumi Jaffrey.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, the directors said, "We cannot direct all the films produced by our banner. Since this was a comedy with a lot of drama, we decided that Rumi Jaffrey would be ideal. We are good at thrillers and we would like to stick to that genre. But because we are avid film buffs and we would like to be associated with different types of films, we created our production house and have roped in different film makers to direct the films."
Life Partner has Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza and Prachi Desai in lead roles. Talking about the film, the first time producers said, "The film is an entertainer and the cast was handpicked for the film. It is important to cast correctly and whatever Rumi and we wanted, we got the stars and were able to shoot without any hitches. And as the casting is novel, audiences will be interested to see the equation and chemistry amongst these stars."
While Life Partner will be released by Studio 18 on 14 August, 2009, the duo is also working on their film, which should start by the end of the year. However, they declined to reveal anything about the project.
