MUMBAI: After a gap of four years director duo Abbas–Mustan and producer Venus have joined hands once again. Plans are to remake a Hollywood blockbuster that will have Akshaye Khanna in the lead. Venus’ latest film Aap Ki Khatir failed to ring in profits at the box-office.
The successful combination of Abbas–Mustan and Venus dates back since 1992 with Khiladi. Incidentally, it was the first film for Venus and Abbas-Mustan duo and actors Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Julka too. The same producer-director team then went on to give hits like Baazigar in 1993, Daraar in 1996, Baadshah in 1999 and Humraaz in 2002.
Ratan Jain, the producer of the film says, “We have bought the remake rights of a Hollywood film for an undisclosed price and our favourite directors Abbas-Mustan will direct that film. It is a big-budget movie. We are finalizing the cast. Once we are through, we will come out with an official announcement.”
