MUMBAI: Without surprise, the Indian Censor Board has given Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film ‘Heroine’ an ‘A’ certificate.
“As expected got a ‘A’ certificate from the censor board,” tweeted Bhandarkar. The maker of reality inspired films like ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Page 3’, ‘Satta’, ‘Corporate’ and ‘Fashion’ is counting down to the launch of the poster and promos of Kareena Kapoor-starrer Heroine, his most ambitious project so far.
According to sources, neither Bhandarkar, nor Kareena are upset about this development. The fact is that the number of movies with an ‘A’ certificate is increasing, creating their own niche in an ever-evolving audience. Additionally, with online avenues like YouTube, where there are no Censor restrictions, it has become increasingly possible to release content, promos that are an uncut, uncensored version!
Along with Kareena, the movie also features Arjun Rampal. It is expected to release on 14 September. The original leading lady for the movie was to have been Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But on account of her pregnancy, she had backed out of the movie after she had already shot for some scenes. Eventually, Kareena stepped in to essay the role.
