MUMBAI:  Several films based on the historic Taj Mahal have been made earlier by many directors and soon Ben Kingsley will be following suit. Kingsley will be making a film on the Taj Mahal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing the role of Mumtaz Mahal.

Kingsley  who has earlier  played Mahatma Gandhi in Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi, will  himself portray the role of Shah Jahan in the film.

Kingsley is in Goa to participate in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2009 and will also be raising finances for his forthcoming film. The film will be produced under the banner of Kingsley’s SBK Productions

David Ashton has written the screenplay and the film is likely to go on floors around September- October 2010.
