Mumbai: Cricket has been garnering a lot of interest from Bollywood lately. After the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Mithun Chakraborty’s latest involvement with various cricket league teams, now actor Akshay Kumar has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the Indian Premier League’s Delhi Daredevils team.
"My heart beats for Delhi. I consider myself a pucca Dilliwalah. I would like to thank the GMR Group (team owners) for choosing me as the first fan of Delhi Daredevils. I hope I become a lucky mascot for the team," Kumar has been quoted in media reports.
Delhi Daredevils is headed by Virender Sehwag as captain and also has Gautam Gambhir, Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif in the team.
The Delhi Daredevils will play its first match on 19 April at the Feroze Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi.
While Shah Rukh Khan owns Indian Premeir League’s (IPL) Kolkata team Knight Riders, Preity Zinta along with Ness Wadia own the Mohali team. Recently, Mithun Chakraborty picked up a stake in Indian Cricket League’s (ICL) Kolkata Tigers.
