MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar has been signed by Balaji Motion Pictures to play the lead role of underworld don Dawood in the sequel to the 2010 hit film Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai.
Kumar’s role in the film, unlike its prequel, will feature lots of action sequences. Kumar is currently in talks with the makers of the film and is likely to bolster the franchisee’s image once he gets on board.
Director, Milan Luthria’s sequel will continue with the original tale of Shoaib (Dawood) and how he builds up his empire following the death of Sultan (Haji). Kumar is busy preparing for the role.
Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai was produced Balaji Telefilms and the film starred Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles. The film released on 30 July, 2010.
