MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan is a busy man. Hardly had he wrapped up shooting for Leena Yadav’s Teen Patti, when he was on the sets of Paa, shooting with Balki. In Teen Patti, the actor plays the central role and was excited in shooting with yet another female director.
Bachchan in his forty years in cinema has worked with many directors. And like any actor whose career span is so vast has enjoyed directors of both sexes giving him directions to emote. And for Teen Patti, it was Leena Yadav calling the shots. The actor said, “Just like any other film the experience was wonderful. There was a predominance of the opposite sex on set – the director and producer both being ladies as also the large multitude of assistants. I found them to be more efficient than the men, which wasn’t surprising and a joy to be witness to their work environment.”
In Teen Patti, Bachchan also had the pleasure of sharing the screen with legendary actor, Sir Ben Kingsley, which was something special for him. And in his words, “Added to this was the opportunity to have worked with Sir Ben Kingsley, during our shoot in England; a most pleasant and great professional.”
Word was out that Teen Patti is a remake of the hit Hollywood film 21. But Bachchan when asked if he had seen the film before the shooting of his film commenced, retorted, “No I did not and why should one. Our story has been inspired by a true life incident book that came out in USA. The entire story and screenplay has been worked on here many years ago.”
Currently Bachchan is in Film City shooting for Pa. Post his trip to Macau for the annual IIFA Awards, for which he is the brand ambassador, he will head for London for the final schedule of the film.
