Yesteryears’ dancing queen Helen is still tangoing

MUMBAI: If you have a good film and a good role to back it up, yesteryear dancing queen Helen is still game to flirt with the camera lens. But if it’s a dancing role, chances are that she will decline.

Helen is all set to go to Goa for her latest film, where she will play a mother to Kabir Bedi and mother in law to Zeenat Aman. Helen reflecting on the cast said, "Way back when I shot with Zeenat Aman in Ram Balram, she played my daughter."

Like in her hey days, Helen is still in charge of her styling and looks for her films. She said, "I have very much concerned about what my look will be in the film. I consult with the director for the look and then I sit with my designer. I even check the wigs as I have short hair now. Looking the character and looking it well is still very high in my priority list."

Helen is still in touch with actors of her era. She declared, "Oh, we go out for lunches and shopping, that is with Asha Parekh, Nanda, Waheeda Rahman and keeping us company is the man who romanced us all on screen, Shammi Kapoor. Just last month, we had lunch at the Melting Pot. And the best thing is that we are all beating each other at being the youngest."

The tinkling of her laughter follows long after we have said goodbye.
