MUMBAI: Ang Lee has roped in Tabu for his forthcoming film based on Yann Martel’s bestseller Life Of Pi. The actress will play the role of Pi’s mother.

Life of Pi is the story of a boy Piscine Molitor ‘Pi’ Patel from Pondicherry who survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a boat with a Bengal tiger.

Lee earlier selected Delhi-based Suraj Singh who will play protagonist Pi in the film.

Li is now on the lookout for someone to play the role of Pi’s father and has already auditioned actors Sushant Singh and Sonu Sood for the role but nothing has been finalized as yet.

The film will go on floors by January, 2011 and will be shot in India and Taiwan.
