Anupam Mittal’s People Group pumps up on films


    MUMBAI: The Indian film industry is attracting more and more new players and most of them corporates with deep pockets. Now Anupam Mittal’s People Group is pumping up the films division — People Pictures, which will focus on film entertainment and movie-making.

    People Pictures, which had earlier produced the crossover film, Flavors is now looking forward to its slate of film projects under development, four of which will be announced in the coming weeks and produced in the next 18 months.

    People Group chairman and managing director Anupam Mittal said, “The filmed entertainment space is going through exciting times currently, and we believe that this is the right time to go full throttle into the business, which has always been on our radar. We are confident that the relationships that we have built over the years in the film industry coupled with our deep understanding of marketing and building brands along with a focus on creativity and innovation will help us grow People Pictures into a studio that most artists would like to associate with.”

    The company has appointed UFO Moviez marketing head Venessa Roy as People Pictures head of marketing and MTV marketing manager Pooja Desai as project manager on film productions. “Additional announcements on the key management recruitments will be made over the next two weeks,” Mittal said.
