Arjun Rampal begins shooting for Stepmom remake

MUMBAI: Arjun Rampal is shooting for back to back films. After finishing his schedule for Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti, the actor is back in Mumbai to shoot for Dharma Productions’ Stepmom remake with director Siddharth Malhotra.

Playing the key role of a man who is divorced and planning a next marriage, Rampal has Kajol playing his ex-wife and Kareena Kapoor as his fiancée. Shooting for the film started a week back in Mumbai’s Filmistan Studios.

Rampal has been on the move since he started shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull in London. Talking about his films, Rampal tells, "Things are slowly coming my way. I will be having quite a few releases next year. And I am trying to shoot with different types of directors and banners so that they can cast me in different characters."

Prakash Jha had signed Rampal four years back for Rajneeti, but as everything only fell into place in February this year, the filmmaker could only then start shooting. In this political satire, we are told Rampal has a bald look. Keeping him company in that film is Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Sajid Khan’s film Housefull is a complete comic caper, which has Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Riteish Deshmukh in key roles. On the other hand, Stepmom is a drama filled with emotions. With two power house performers in Kajol and Kareena, Rampal not only has good films with reputable banners, but also extremely talented co-stars.
