MUMBAI: Vishesh Films’ Awarapan lost out to Aap Ka Suroor and Apne, at the box office due to the simultaneous release of the films. However, it’s a different story in the neighboring country Pakistan, Awarapan is gaining popularity. The film has collected Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crores) there.
Speaking exclusively to Businessofcinema.com, producer Mahesh Bhatt says, “Awarapan is one of the finest stories told on the big screen. Emraan’s performance was admired by one and all, but somehow it didn’t do too well in India. But, the film has become a rage in Pakistan where it has grossed more than Rs 80 million so far.â€
Speaking about Vishesh Film’s expansion plans, Bhatt adds, “We are looking at international co-productions in the coming time apart from making content for the small screen as well. There are many plans in the pipeline but it’s too early to speak about them.â€
At the moment Bhatt is busy overseeing Pooja Bhatt’s Dhokha, which is slated to release at the end of August.
