Baba Arts steps up on IP rights’ space

MUMBAI: Baba Arts has acquired the copyrights, excluding theatre and music rights of the new live-action animated film My Friend Ganesha.


The rights acquired are satellite and overseas, world wide video rights; world wide rights for all TV formats; theatrical rights outside India; Internet and broadband rights; air borne and high seas rights; and mobile rights.


The company has sold the satellite, merchandising and licensing rights of My Friend Ganesha to Star India. This is the first time that Star has acquired merchandising and licensing rights of a Hindi movie.


Baba Arts also plans to venture into the business of acquisition of various rights for the South Indian film industry, viz., home video, overseas and audio  rights.


The rights to My Friend Ganesha have been acquired by Baba for a period of 11 years. The company has also acquired rights for telecasting Hindi movies like Krrish, Bhagam Bhag, Honeymoon Travels, Zinda, and others on pubcaster Doordarshan.


Baba Arts has four divisions dealing in areas of Intellectual Property Rights space, film production, home video and post production. The company has handled 42 films for Doordarshan to telecast, and also deals with television channels like Star TV, Sony, Zee Network etc.
