Balaji sells Sarkar Raj TV rights to Studio 18 for Rs 140 mn

MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures has sold the satellite rights of Sarkar Raj to Studio 18 for Rs 140 million (Rs 14 crores). The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Sarkar Raj is directed by Ram Gopal Varma and is a sequel to Sarkar, which was released in 2006.

Confirming the development to Businessofcinema.com, Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Ramesh Sippy says, "We have sold the satellite rights of Sarkar Raj to Studio 18. We appreciate Studio 18’s approach towards syndication of movies to various channels."

In September last year, Balaji had acquired the India rights of Sarkar Raj from Adlabs. Balaji will handle the theatrical distribution of the film. The film’s music and home video rights are with T-Series.

The film is slated for a release on 6 June. When contacted by Businessofcinema.com, Studio 18 officials refused to comment on the same.
