Billu takes average opening; does better in small centers

MUMBAI: Red Chillies Entertainment’s Billu directed by Priyadarshan has taken an average opening in metros on Friday, 13 February. On the other hand, the movie’s opening at the box office is slightly better in smaller centers.

According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, in metros the movie has opened to approximately 30 – 40 per cent occupancy levels at multiplexes.

On the other hand, The Stoneman Murders opened slow in the morning shows, however picked up slightly in the afternoon with almost 30 – 35 per cent occupancy. The movie’s producers Kaleidoscope Entertainment expect the evening shows’ occupancy levels on Friday to be higher by at least 10 – 15 per cent.

While Billu stars Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta and Rajpal Yadav with Shah Rukh Khan in a special appearance; The Stoneman Murders stars Kay Kay Menon and Arbaaz Khan.

Word out mouth is what will work in favour or against the two movies. It will be interesting to see what numbers Monday brings in.
