LONDON: Madame Tussauds Wax Museum has launched a world tour of its Bollywood superstar collection. Wax statues of four superstars – Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor will be travelling to Hong Kong and Bangkok among other world cities.
At Hong Kong, the statues will be showcased in the museum’s World Premiere Zone alongside the wax figure of Amitabh. Since Big B already has a wax statue in Hong Kong, his statue at London won’t be travelling to the Asian city. The statues will be on display in Hong Kong till July 19, after which they will travel to a different city.
However, surprisingly Hindi cinema’s most popular icon, Salman Khan, is not a part of the tour. The wax figure of Madhuri Dixit, which was launched recently, also does not figure in the list. Officials at the museum’s Hong Kong branch are bullish about the visiting Bollywood carnival, but Madame Tussauds has extended no official reason for excluding Salman’s and Madhuri’s statue.
General manager of Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong, Kelly Mak said "The decision to bring Bollywood wax figures to the city was done keeping in mind the increasing inflow of Indian tourists around this time of the year."
