MUMBAI: Hindi movie channel Filmy has roped in actor Boman Irani to anchor and play a quiz master in India’s first film-based quiz show – Bollywood Ka Boss.
The program format has been created by Siddhartha Basu’s Synergy Adlabs, who is also producing the show. Filmy has already called for entries aiming to find the person with the maximum ‘Filmy gyaan’. The one who’ll bag the crown of Bollywood Ka Boss will bag the prize of Rs 5 million (Rs 50 lakhs).
Sahara One Media and Entertainment Limited head Seemanto Roy said, “Ever since its launch, Filmy has strived to be different from other movie channels by offering original film-based content over and above blockbuster films. Shows and anchors like Lallan, Filmy Stock Exchange, Kaun Banega Champu, and now Bathroom Singer, have been huge successes. Bollywood Ka Boss is the biggest show for the channel till date, with an obvious, unmistakable Filmy connect.”
Irani added, “Not too many people know, but I’m one of the biggest film fans, and an avid Bollywood quizzer. If ever there was a show that would have excited me to take to television, it had to be this. I have worked with Siddhartha before, and I trust him completely. And the Filmy team has a very clear vision on how massive the potential for a show like this can be, if produced and promoted in the right way.”
Synergy Adlabs chairman and managing director Siddhartha Basu said, “Bollywood Ka Boss will cater to a movie-crazy country, where there is such a massive fascination and knowledge about all that’s Filmy. It’s a national contest genuinely open to all, which will establish and celebrate the ones who know the most about the subject. The format and conduct will be exciting. Boman is not only an outstanding entertainer but also a huge Hindi film buff. Both contestants and viewers can look forward to an original, entertaining, and highly competitive contest.”
To take part in the selection process, one needs to SMS BKB to 59090 between 12 September and 7 October and answer the nine questions asked on SMS. The highest scorers will need to go through a written a test, and on qualifying one can enter Bollywood Ka Boss and stand a chance to win.
