Mumbai: Dostana’s official online ticket booking partner bookmyshow.com has pocketed business worth Rs 1.1 crore in just three days from Friday to Sunday, with the sale of Dostana tickets on its portal.
Bookmyshow.com sold 70,000 tickets of the movie Dostana in various locations across India. This feat marks the highest sale for the portal till date. Dostana released on 14 November.
Bookmyshow.com manager marketing and promotions Naheed Khopekar said, "We sold Dostana tickets worth Rs 1.1 crore last weekend, making it the highest ever online sales for the portal. It was bookmyshow’s first key tie-up to be organized and promoted on such grand scale."
Majority bookings poured in from Bombay, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Pune cities.
Commenting on this association, Dharma Productions marketing head Arun Nair says, "Since Dostana is targeted at the youth, Bookmyshow.com fit well within our marketing strategy as a point-of-sale promotional platform and the portal also targets the youth who are avid internet surfers. We are highly pleased with our association with bookmyshow.com and its outcome"
The portal promoted its association and the contest on TV18 network television channels and portals, on MTV network and Google. The contest winners even had an opportunity to meet Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra at an event organized on Monday.
Dostana is directed by debutant Tarun Mansukhani. It is produced by Karan Johar, Dharma Productions and distributed by Yash Raj Films. The film was released in India with approximately 700 prints.
