MUMBAI: Grazing Goat Pictures’ ‘OMG! Oh My God’ starring Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Mithun Chakraborty, has come forth as a SUPER-HIT after a splendid performance.

Based on a Gujarati play ‘Kanji Virudh Kanji’, the movie has been critically acclaimed for its bold handling of a sensitive topic and the outstanding performance of the protagonist by Paresh Rawal.

Even though the first day collections of the film were on the duller side, the rave reviews and positive word of mouth pushed the film into the elite category.

The ten day total of the film now stands at a proud Rs 500 million (Rs 50 crore) net, and the film is still continuing on a winning streak, especially in Central India and Gujarat.

Tracing the performance:

‘OMG! Oh My God’ released on 28th September with only about 35% occupancy, and a poor opening in the range of Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore) net.

The outcome seemed dismal and covering the costs probably looked unattainable at that point to the distributors.

While Saturday and Sunday had shown a decent pick up, the 3 day total figure of approximately Rs 170 million (Rs 17 crore) was on the duller side.

Come Day 4 and 5, the pick up magically turned into a good surge. A national holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti did a lot to help. The 5 day total collections of ‘Oh My God’ touched a comfortable approximate Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crore) net.

The second weekend business held steady bringing the collections in the range of Rs 430 million (Rs 43 million) net.
