Mumbai: British Council in alliance with Saregama India presents a platform for budding scriptwriters facilitating them to create a foothold in Bollywood. Saregama offers a channel for aspiring scriptwriters to be launched by eminent production houses like PNC, Reliance, UTV, Adlabs, Studio 18, Yash Raj Films, Eros, Mahindra & Mahindra, K Sera Sera, Percept Pictures and Vijay Amritraj at the JW Marriott.
Ten scriptwriters, who had emerged as finalists in the scriptwriting workshop conducted in Goa in March, this year, will read out their scripts to the production houses. There will then be a bid for each of these talents, which will ultimately result in making of films based on the same scripts.
Saregama’s interest in this emerged from its plans to invest in the cinema space in India. With a vision to attract and develop more talent for the industry, Saregama India has collaborated for ‘The India Screenwriting Workshop’.
Commenting on The India Screenwriting Workshop B R Sharan said, "Our vision for this workshop has been to introduce amateurs to both film appreciation as well as actual techniques of filmmaking. With an extremely rich resource of talent in our country, we hope to create an effective platform towards our vision."
Speaking on the occasion, Saregama India business head Madhu Mantena Verma mentioned, "From being a premier Music and Home Entertainment content and distribution company we are moving towards being India’s premier feature film based entertainment creation and distribution company. With this vision we are integrating talent across the country to create and showcase their works in an environment where they can experience creative joy and we will support them with thoughtful and professional processes designed to maximize profit."
